About

DC Diplomats (DCD) Team Handball was founded in May 2001 by John Ryan under the Condors organization banner. DCD quickly became an elite handball force in the United States. Playing on the elite level, DCD's men regularly placed high in all entered tournaments.

In the short time of DC Diplomats’ existence, players from over 40 countries have put on our uniforms.

Following USATH Decertification in 2006, DCD became a local side, primarily holding clinics and scrimmaging the Deaf National Team.

Reformed in 2008 by a group including Mirela (Almeida) Lima, Chris Maynard, Eric Estrada, and Bryan Cothorn, DCD began to rebuild for the rigors of participating on a regional and national level.

Since then, DCD has been committed to building a program of excellence. With third place finishes for both its men and women, and winning the Northeast League 2nd Division title in 2011, DCD is growing towards the elite level of handball in the US.

Broadcasting and P.A. Request: When speaking of the organization, please refer to the team as either “DCD” or “DC Diplomats” but not “the DC Diplomats” or “the Diplomats.” We appreciate your cooperation.
